If you have never been on a cycling holiday in France before you may be deterred by the fact that they ride on the wrong side of the road in France, or the fact that the moutains are very steep in France.

Whilst this is true, it should not be a deterrent. Yes your cycling holiday in France will involve riding on the French roads and up some steep hills, however, you will be in groups following a leader, and as far as the hills are concerned you will not be expected to do anything too strenuous immediately. The cycle rides will gradually increase in distance over the week.
